Cyberoam Launches Virtual SSL VPN Appliance
Posted: Mon Mar 01, 2010 12:36:00 PM

Cyberoam, the leading provider of identity-based Unified Threat Management appliances, has announced the integration of its SSL VPN solution on a virtual platform, besides offering it as a dedicated appliance and through an installer on customer machines. With this launch activity, Cyberoam counts among very few players in the remote office security solutions space that run separate SSL VPN platforms to provide greater flexibility to organizations in purchasing solutions that meet their individual security guidelines and infrastructure.

The global market size for SSL VPN products was projected at $506 million in 2008, and is slated to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 14% till 2012. Organizations are increasingly demanding more flexibility of choice in their solutions purchase so that they fill current gaps in the security infrastructure rather than simply lie on top of existing solutions. In this scenario, they find the “virtual appliances” model very attractive because these help in achieving greater ROI and optimal utilization of hardware making the business operations more eco-friendly.

“In our offering of VMware-based virtual appliances, customers get a virtual SSL VPN machine, available as a downloadable image, which obviates the need to buy a hardware appliance. This helps them reduce the total cost of ownership and at the same time, easily perform any future upgrades by simple reallocation of their existing physical resources for the virtual appliance,” says Mr. Harish Chib, Vice President - New Business Development, Cyberoam.

Chib adds, “We are aware there are other organizations that are still in a transition phase towards their virtualization goals. For them, we offer two other options – a dedicated appliance and as a software installer that fits into their existing machines.”

Cyberoam’s SSL VPN solutions allows clientless browser-based access to geographically-distributed networks through common web browsers, with an “in-office” experience for internal applications including Microsoft Outlook, Intranets, web applications, FTP and more. Also, local desktops and laptop can securely traverse existing UTM firewalls in the network to access remote data services, without any risk of exposing the confidential information to hackers.

The new SSL VPN appliances from Cyberoam deliver high performance with strong end-point security and granular access control for enterprises helping them achieve compliance with regulatory requirements. Identity-based logs of network access enable organizations to securely extend their networks with complete knowledge of “who is remotely accessing what in their network”. With client-less configuration, they offer high ROI, high performance and secure remote access.
